Shin’s installation transformed more than 2,000 athletic trophies, donated by local residents, into a critical mass of figures of American workers. The work calls to mind the many protests and celebrations that are held on the National Mall. Washington Post art critic Michael O’Shea said that the installation “operates not just through our retinas, but on our hearts and minds.”
