The Pink Panther
1969-79
Pratt co-created the Pink Panther for the opening and closing credit sequences of the Inspector Clouseau detective farces starring Peter Sellers. Pratt later developed cartoon shorts and a television series for the popular character.
really made me laugh. Loved it.
The Pink Panther was arguably the first cartoon character to epitomize a suave, sleek new aesthestic for the 1960s, in much the same way that Bugs Buggy symbolized the pugnaciousness of the early 1940s.
Hawley Pratt is my no. 1 “icon”. In my view he was the greatest all-around artist in the animation field. He was stunningly prolific and talented.
