A self-styled “space engineer,” Kalil pushed the boundaries of art, architecture, and design, making him the National Aeronautics Space Agency’s ideal candidate to research and design the living quarters of an international space station. Kalil’s preparatory drawings for the module are in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
