Celebrated book illustrator and printmaker Eichenberg chronicled social history, particularly the upheavals of World War I and II. City Lights shows Eichenberg's perceptive observations of contemporary life interpreted through the traditional practices of woodblock printing. In 1956, after nine years of teaching at Pratt Institute, Eichenberg founded the Pratt Graphic Art Center, where he served as director until 1972.
