Strega Nona was named a Caldecott Honor Book in 1976. Author Tomie dePaola recently received The American Library Association 2011 Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for his “substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children.”
I’ve read many of Mr. dePaola’s books to my kids. Great, loving, super, wonderful.
It’s a joy to see Tomie recognized for the fine illustration and magical storytelling that generations of children and parents have now enjoyed. High fives to the master!
I still have all the Tomie dePaola books that I read to my boys. They are so inspiring artistically and had such a great storyline.
